Table of Contents: SiteSeer Feature Updates
We’re excited to share several updates to the SiteSeer platform. Some are small, some are game-changers, but all are intended to make SiteSeer better, faster, and more useful. Most importantly, these enhancements will help you make smarter location and expansion decisions.
Whether you’re exploring SiteSeer’s suite of site selection and market analysis tools or you’re deep into expansion strategy, these features will boost your analysis:
Location Profiles: Expanded Metrics, AI-Driven, Real-World Results
We’ve released Location Profiles 4.0 and completely re-engineered the approach behind one of our most powerful tools. In this 2025 update, each chain concept’s Site Scorecard now features metrics and weights tailored to unique site selection patterns of its industry and brand. The result: models that are more accurate, easier to explain, and more closely aligned with real-world performance.
If you’re new to SiteSeer or this feature, here’s a quick overview. Location Profiles are Site Scorecard templates within the Model Builder tool. We’ve created thousands of profiles based on real-world site selection criteria used by retail, restaurant, and service chains nationwide, incorporating factors like consumer demographics lifestyles and behaviors, site characteristics, and more. With Location Profiles, commercial real estate firms can build credibility with established chains by pinpointing sites that fit their typical expansion profile, while new and emerging brands can tap into the profiles of leading brands to guide where they should expand next.
White Space: Proven Market Planning at Unmatched Speed
When SiteSeer first launched White Space, it was a breakthrough in market optimization, helping users plan nationwide market strategies in hours instead of weeks. But we were determined to push the envelope further.
With the release of White Space 2.2 in August 2025, we’ve reengineered the algorithm to deliver a major leap forward in performance. Market plans that once took hours now run in minutes, without any loss of accuracy or precision. The result: spend less time waiting and more time achieving your growth goals.
New Feature: Custom Metrics
Users asked for the ability to create their own variables in SiteSeer, and we’ve delivered! With Custom Metrics, users can combine existing variables, transform them with functions, or build formulas—creating new variables that reflect exactly how their business measures performance. Once created, Custom Metrics can be applied throughout SiteSeer. They can be used in models, in queries and reports, to create map themes , and more. With Custom Metrics, SiteSeer puts more control in your hands, giving you the freedom to define and apply the measures that drive your business.
New Feature: Trade Area Import
SiteSeer has long offered the flexibility to create your own trade areas—whether radii, drive times, customer capture areas, or manually drawn boundaries. But what if your trade area comes from another program? With the new Trade Area Import tool, you can now bring GIS files directly into SiteSeer, link them to a site, and put them to work immediately. Once imported, they function just like any other trade area—you can use, analyze, and edit them seamlessly within SiteSeer.
Editable Sliders in Prospects
SiteSeer’s Prospects models let users explore opportunities by adjusting countless demographic and location variables. Sliders make exploration fast — set minimums and maximums and see the map update instantly. Our latest update adds precision: you can now enter exact values when sliders don’t provide the level of control you need, making it easier to fine-tune every metric.
Expanded Trade Area Demographics
The Trade Area tab in SiteSeer has always provided a quick snapshot of key demographic variables. Now it’s even more powerful. The list of available variables no longer stops at demographics—it now draws from all subscribed data sources, including locational variables and more. And with the number of top variables expanded from 10 to 15, you get a broader, more insightful view of your trade areas at a glance.
Zoom to Site Functionality
Zooming and adding sites in SiteSeer is now smarter and simpler. The redesigned location search tool includes two modes: Zoom mode (classic mode) and Add Site mode. In Zoom mode, enter an address, ZIP code, city, or landmark and the map automatically recenters at the right scale. In Add Site mode, you can zoom and drop a site directly on the map—eliminating extra steps. The zoom function also adapts intelligently, showing street-level detail for addresses and broader views for ZIP codes or cities.
Wall Maps
SiteSeer map reports have always supported a wide range of sizes, from standard 8½ × 11 pages to poster-sized 36 × 48 inches. Previously, when creating larger maps, the current view was simply scaled to fit the larger page size. With this update, three new “extended” map sizes are available. These formats preserve your zoom level while expanding the map extent to fill the page—making it easier to produce detailed trade area, market, or regional maps at any scale.
New Zoom Levels
With the latest release, SiteSeer has seamlessly transitioned our Google Maps users from image-based raster tiles to vector maps. While the maps may have the same appearance as before, this upgrade gives users much finer control over map scale—with more than 200 zoom levels compared to the previous 26. Together with our other updates, this enhancement gives users greater control and the ability to produce sharper, more detailed map reports.
At SiteSeer, our goal is to keep making the platform faster, smarter, and more aligned with how you work. Every update is built to give you greater speed, accuracy, and confidence in your decisions.
